Host of Y97.9 FM-Takoradi’s Reggae Republic, Haruna Babaginda is already having a blissful week after receiving another awards nomination, this time for the 2022 Western Radio & TV Personality Awards.
Haruna Babaginda is in line to become the 2022 “Reggae Show Host of The Year” at the upcoming Western Radio & TV Personality Awards.
In contrast to other jurisdictions where this genre has been consigned to the back, Haruna Babangida brings on board the greatest show of all time every week.
The programme covers the genre’s history, legends, and contemporary artists while promoting the whole of reggae culture as a musical gem. It is reasonable to say that “Reggae Republic,” hosted by the renowned Babangida, has evolved into the standard by which all other reggae concerts are measured.
His influence in the use of the popular genre to address sociopolitical issues and African history has earned him a lot of national recognition over the years. He has also become a household name for his inspirational works through Reggae music. He does not only play to entertain but to inform and educate.
Haruna Babaginda is convinced he will win the category because of his impressive year of touring, rekindling Ghanaians love for reggae, and bringing attention to social ills through music.
The prestigious Western Radio and Television Personality Awards (WRTP) is an awards event organized by Ex-One entertainment to honour excellence in the media industry. The first WRTP award was held at the TTU auditorium on the 14th December 2019
