The prestigious National Science and Maths Quiz, a premier competition for Ghanaian senior high schools, was officially launched on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at the GNAT Hall in Accra.
Present at the launch were key guests from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service, who gathered to celebrate the continuation of this renowned academic contest which showcasing intellectual excellence in Mathematics and Science in Ghana.
Organized for nearly 30 years by PrimeTime Limited, the National Science and Maths Quiz has established itself as a hallmark of academic achievement, drawing participation from numerous high schools across the country, each proudly supporting their representatives.
Managing Director of PrimeTime Limited, Nana Akua A. Mensa-Bonsu, who spoke during the launch emphasized the values the competition upholds, stating, “The academic competition celebrates academic brilliance, mental fortitude, confidence, diligence, and teamwork in Ghanaian youth.”
This year’s event will feature 157 schools that have qualified for the National Championship, which will be hosted in Cape Coast, Central Region. Mensa-Bonsu highlighted the significance of this year’s competition, noting that it involves “by far the largest number of schools to ever participate in the National Championship of the NSMQ.”
“Once again, the championship is upon us. I know you have prepared diligently, so stay focused, listen carefully to the questions, and be sure to cooperate with your team,” Dr. Kwaku Mensa-Bonsu advised the competing schools.
The winning school for this year’s NSMQ will receive a total of GHS 70,000, sponsored by Goil. The breakdown includes GHS 30,000 for the school, GHS 20,000 for the contestants, and GHS 20,000 for the team of teachers.
