Trigmatic teamed up with World Food Program and UNFPA to launch the maiden edition of the Music Speaks Talk Party Series on the 28th of February 2020 at the UNFPA (Orange Loft).
Music Speaks is a youthful campaign that seeks to establish and promote music as a tool to accelerate the drive to achieve SDGs.
The first edition which focuses on youth in Agriculture was under the theme ‘Make We Grow, what we want Chop’. The talk party brought together young men and women actively involved in Agribusiness. Together they deliberated in issues, challenges and potential solutions that affect the rate at which youth actively get involved in Agribusiness.
Our panelists included Awo Amoabeng of Skin Gourmet, Farouk Yakubu of Royal Green Farms, Seraphina Aku Batse – a UNFPA YeLo Fellow & CEO of Idea Farms, Mr. Richard Addision of Kent Farms, Cyril Gockel of OG Farms, CJ Biggerman of Agroyard Co. Ltd &
Mr. Chris Ibyisintabyo, The Sustainable Food Systems Coordinator for WFP (Ghana).
The mix of panelists gave us a solid perspective of the role of the youth in each stage of the value chain in Agriculture. The presence of speakers from WFP and UNFPA also gave insight on the role both agencies play in the fight against No poverty (SDG 1), Zero Hunger (SDG 2) and Gender Equality (SDG 5) in the space of Youth In Agriculture.
The active participation from the audience of agricultural advocates and ‘agripreneuers’ also spoke to the success of the initiative as a platform to boost interest in agribusiness amongst Ghana’s youth.
