Dancehall act, Jupitar in a latest interview has revealed it’s unnecessary to push the 80% Ghana Music agenda as well as the “Support Your Own” policy most Ghanaian musicians are fighting for if they can’t support themselves as artiste.
The award winning act talking to Joy FM stated;
”Support your own shouldn’t be an agenda because hardly do Ghanaian artiste even support themselves’. He continued by questioning the agenda by saying “if we say support your own, is it to the fans or who?”.
He thinks the policy of supporting your own should start from the Artiste whilst it gradually hits the media and the fans not any other person or institution.
Besides, “most Ghanaian musicians are too comfortable with what they have now (Current Fanbase and Fame) so they don’t even go outside to promote their content and also shoot good videos for their music and also just releases songs without any proper plan, meanwhile that’s the plan other foreign artistes are using here in Ghana and it’s helping them dominate our airwaves which makes some of the musicians feel bitter”, he concluded.
Jupitar recently win the African artiste of the year at the Urban Music Awards.
