Dhat Gyal, the young Ghanaian musician known for her amazing covers has disclosed that she loves and has been influenced by songs with great lyrical content.
The young lady attributes her acquired taste in music to her father who owns a bar. “My father owns a bar and when I was young, I was exposed to ‘adadamu’ more and that influenced my music preferences.”
On her accord, she is touched mostly by songs from Nana Ampadu and Obuoba J.A Adofo. Her love for these music acts stems from the fact that their lyrical content is relevant as of today and rather clean.
Her preferred contemporary musicians are Kofi Kinaata and Kuami Eugene. “I like Kofi Kinaata’s Susuka and my preferred gospel artiste is Tiwaa of Asomafo fame.”
In an interview with Doctar Cann on Happy98.9FM’s Ayekoo After Drive, she also professed her love for Nigerian songs.
“I like Nigerian songs a lot. Their lyrics are on point and their beats are great,” she added.
She admits Ghanaians are learning from the Nigerians and however believes Ghanaians can be better than their neighbours.
Dhat Gyal is currently working on her 9 to 10 track album which she has titled ‘Coming Back’.
