Farmer and Conservation Agriculture Expert, David Opoku-Ababio, has explained why the youth dread venturing into agriculture.
The farmer made known that this phenomenon mainly exists because of the lack of passion for the agricultural sector.
Speaking in an interview with YFM’s Princess AJ on the Myd Morning Show, he explained that many of his mates who pursued agricultural studies in the university have ended up either working in the engineering firm or the banking sector.
“So, it is about the passion. Many of us went to school because we wanted a certificate not because we had passion for agric. Personally, I didn’t have passion for agriculture. But along the line I developed that”, he expressed.
He thus advised that for the youth to enjoy working in the agricultural sector, the passion must first be developed. Then, they can try out innovative ways of farming such as urban farming and green housing.
