Following the recognition and award of Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as an Ambassador of Education for Ghanaian Students, the versatile broadcast journalist is set to embark on a nationwide “campus to campus” tour.
This was confirmed to YFM by the tour coordinator Mr Haki Insah on Monday who explained that Yaw Ampofo Ankrah will be a very active Ambassador who will share his experiences in the media and sports industries as well as his involvement with education and recreational projects. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana Prof Ebenezer Owusu Oduro presented the National Award to the broadcaster and sports administrator in September at the Great Hall, Legon.
One of the first stops would be the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) campus on Friday 14th October 2016. Brief Background A household name in the Ghanaian media, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is best known as the anchor man for the Black Stars Diary at the 2016 World Cup Finals in Germany. His natural flair and delivery on both radio and television has earned him a unique brand in sports broadcasting. Ampofo Ankrah has covered both junior and senior World Cups tournaments, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships Athletics and numerous sporting events.
His first job was as a sports presenter on Sunshine Radio when he was just 19 years old. Since then, he’s gained priceless experience over the past 20 years as a youth advocate employing sports and education concepts. Ampofo Ankrah is the Navigator of the Books & Boots Project, Ghana Volunteers Brigade and also founding President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association.
He has vast experience in television and radio production having worked at Joy fm, tv3, Metro tv, Atlantis Radio and the BBC. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is currently an anchor for Supersport.
