Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Edem, has described his ‘Favour’ record as an extra dimension of himself, Ghanaians have never seen through his journey as an artiste.
Edem is widely recognized as a rap legend in the music space with his ‘hardcore’ rhyme hits. He is barely seen as a singer as he produces more of the ‘kasa-hare’ sounds in his favorite Ewe dialect.
However, his 2021 song which featured undoubtedly the best female Ghanaian vocalist, Efya and the elite Sarkodie saw a swipe in Edem’s popular flow.
In an Interview on Y107.9 FM’s ‘Drye of Your Lyfe’ radio show with Kojo Manuel the ‘Toto’ hitmaker opined that some of the songs artistes like himself produce prove to be ahead of time, making Ghanaians less appreciative of the masterpieces they bring forth.
“It is another dimension of me which I feel like Ghana didn’t see, so I put it out. Sometimes I think we’re just ahead of your time when you create some of the sound so Ghanaians appreciate it less. Another person like that is EL. He is always ahead of his time with some productions and mixes. I think anybody who comes across ‘Favour’ goes crazy with the vibe,” he said.
“I’m at a place where I see songs as products. Let’s take Kasapreko as a case, it has a lot of products but some of them will not do that well but ‘Adonko’ might be the premium one. For me, I see the entire music journey as a process where you have products to sell to people. Even if people don’t respond to your products the way you expected, there is still a certain added value to your credentials either from the angle of respect, money or to extend your longevity and make a statement. You need to continue moving. Of course every song artistes drop feel like it has to ‘bomb’ at a level and one of those songs of me is ‘Favour’,” he added.
