Renowned Ivorian musician, Constant Boty, has described his culturally themed songs as an instrument to promoting humanitarian campaigns.
In an interview with Akosua Hanson on Y107.9FM’s “YLounge” radio show, the music educator reiterated that most artistes focus too much on their musical craft, neglecting the diplomatic influence of music.
“Musicians think too much of the music and forget the business and diplomatic aspects. The feedback for my music has been transformational and is instigating change,” he said.
He further shared that through his music, he has been able to trigger changes in education and bridge the African culture through inter-cultural dialogues.
“I am a humanitarian and my music is used by institutions to promote ideas. So that’s why I’m not too much into concepts but I do have concepts. It is real on that side that I’m expanding and also the education aspects. In 2021 I used my music to raise around 200,000 USD to support orphanage homes and so on across Africa. In 2018 I used my music to help in the construction of schools in Cape Town, South Africa. Basically, I’ve been doing a lot of humanitarian activities, using my music to support education and inter-cultural dialogues.”
Constant Boty is a Jazz Fusion Guitarist, musician, educator and humanitarian. He is among a selected group of West African musicians who have masterfully balanced and blended the often-contradictory results laments of innovation and tradition.
Boty has found his niche perfecting a fine mix of West African folkloric music, European classical, jazz and electronic music.
