Chief Executive Officer of Hair Senta, Gwyneth Gyimah Addo, has advised entrepreneurs to be patient with themselves and their businesses.
In an exclusive interview with Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM’s YLeaderboard Series, Mrs Addo said, “Sometimes, these things just get into your head and you feel like you’ve arrived so you start doing things that are very unnecessary and that was what I did. People will call especially from the bank and I knew sales was not good but I’ll pretend and say I’m doing good but it was all lies to just protect my ego”.
She highlighted on the importance of taking time as an entrepreneur.
“You also have to understand that the business is not about you, it’s about them but I made the business about me. I went and bought hair that I thought Ghanaians needed I didn’t understand when they come to the store and say don’t you have this they turn around and I look at my assistant and I’m like what are they talking about these guys are not even enlightened enough” she said.
She stated that along the line she realized that, all along the clients were giving her clues and all she had to do was to listen but her ego was in the way.
“So business people listening to me, no matter how much money you have when you start or no matter how much hype and hope you get, you need to have an element of humility, you need to be patient and you need to understand that it’s a process don’t rush it go through the process”.
Gwyneth believes that, each stage is going to educate, help and prepare them for the next one and if you jump it, they will crash.
