Multi-talented Ghanaian singer, Amaarae has refuted claims that she is unwilling to collaborate with Ghanaian artistes.
In an exclusive interview with Kojo Manuel on Y 107.9 FM’s “Dryve of Your Lyfe”, Amaarae revealed that she has made several attempts to collaborate with some Ghanaian artistes without success.
“I won’t say I don’t put in the work to feature Ghanaian artistes. I can at least think of three that for like a year I tried reaching out to collaborate with them but they wouldn’t,” she said.
Amaarae also stated that she has championed several artistes by tweeting about their music and talking about them. “If I like an artiste I just hit you up and make you know,” she added.
“Everyone puts the blame on me and like the perception is like I probably think I’m too good but there are artistes that I love and I’ve championed, tweet about their music, talk about them and even tried to get one of them on the record and his DJ was giving me the run around vibes and this was like a year ago and finally gave me a funny answer. I met the artiste himself somewhere and he was very like not nice. So I mean I try and I try,” she shared.
Amaarae further called on other Ghanaian artistes she has previously contacted to take up her invitation for collaborations.
She however disclosed that she has a few records with some Ghanaian artistes including a feature with Camidoh awaiting release while recognizing Stonebwoy as a professional.
“Except a very few of them, Stonebwoy is one, Camidoh and I have a collabo and I don’t know when he’s going to drop that but I even sampled him in my last album. Except for those two, I think it’s up to other artistes to take on my invitation. I’ve tried over time,” she said.
Amaarae also emphasized the importance of respect and friendliness in collaborations as she stated that attributed the lack of corporation to the ego.
Amaarae is set to release her second album dubbed, “Fountain Baby” after her just released single “Reckless and Reckless”.
