It is arguable that media literacy has become a major issue of concern with numerous forms of training trying to educate netizens as they are called or users of the internet, continuous projection of these acts leads to their acceptance and approval in our society.
This act of the media, especially, traditional media outlets with credence questions the ethics and professionalism of the media practitioners in the entertainment industry in our country. That is even they consider those ethics and professionalism with their educational credentials and certification to practice the profession they find themselves in.
Also, does giving these individuals public attention suggest that there are no topical issues in the entertainment industry in Ghana or that the media is all about chasing clout, getting the views and making returns?
A dozen issues happen within our entertainment industry and many causes our media practitioners can champion to better our industry and growth.
Profiling and setting agendas for fruitful acts, granting interviews to artists, both up and coming to promote their music and highlighting the plights of veteran industry players are some of the issues our media can deliberately set agendas on.
In conclusion, the media as known wields a lot of influence over their audience and as the media is seen to be the mirror of our societies, the media in Ghana ought to be objective and a bit picky in setting the agenda or topics for discussion in the entertainment industry in Ghana.
The media should be more focused on projecting and promoting creativity rather than focusing solely on what will rake in views and traffic. Good deeds also pay!
