Ghanaian stand-up comedian and entertainer, MJ the Comedian, has advised people to stop addressing comedians as fools.
According to him, it takes a lot to be a comedian but a lot of people underestimate the profession and perceive them as fools.
Speaking to Akua Sika on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Evening Drive, he said, “As a comedian, I need to be all the professions at the same time in order to make you laugh. For instance, I’ll have to be a psychologist and work with your brain to know your mood so I can impress you with what I say”.
He emphasized that people see the entertainment job as easy whereas it is not so.
“We are constantly looking for a way to make people happy and doing that is not an easy task as it may take a lot to make people smile or even laugh,” he said.
He noted that the time has come for comedians to be respected and taken seriously in the country and entertainment industry.
