Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, identified as Spyro in the music industry has indicated that his career as an Afrobeats singer cannot hinder him from playing active roles in church.
This revelation made by the singer is marked as a defence against outrage of social media users over a trending video of the ‘Who Is Your Guy’ hitmaker performing his song titled ‘Only Fine Girl’ during an event held in a Nigerian church.
The 33-year-old singer in a viral video affirmed his awareness of all conversation and criticisms that have generated from his performance and debunked all claims of him headlining a paid- event at the church. “I only sang the song as a drama character; that was our Carols service.”
As a member of the church, Spyro revealed that he is a member of the church’s choir and an active participant in the venue management unit for every service. “Harvesters is my church; I am a choir member in Harvesters; I am not just a choir member but I also serve in venue management unit; as a team, we go to church and clean the church ahead of every service.”
Spyro emphasized the importance of uncompromised service to God no matter his level of influence or fame. “There’s nothing wrong with me serving my God; me being a celebrity does not restrict me from service to God.” he noted.
