One of Ghana’s most successful Disc Jockeys, Wilhelmina Jane Austin, popularly known as Mz Orstin has stressed that she is ever ready to make an impact as a female DJ in the male-dominated field of disc jockeying.
In an interview with Mercy Bee on the Girl Vibes show aired on e.TV Ghana, she stated that many female DJs are not recognized because they seem to be “laid-back”.
“I don’t think we get the attention as the men do. Maybe we need to work extra hard. We are mostly laid-back and we don’t make as much noise as the men”, she told Mercy Bee.
She noted that on her part, practicing disc jockeying has always been her passion and no matter the challenges that come her way, she is determined to thrive in the male-dominated field. “Once you are consistent with what you are doing and you have the passion for it; that can carry you through. I am working harder to get to greater heights”, she added.
Mz Orstin encouraged listeners to tune it to the Weekend Rush on Y107.9FM every Saturday from 9am-12noon to be served with exciting content on the show.
