Going back to London was a cultural shock to me – Lucy Quist

Ghanaian-British business and technology executive born in London, Lucy Quist has disclosed that she had to deal largely with adapting to life in the UK after going back to her birth land for her tertiary education.
According to her, she never experienced the same cultural shock when she came to Ghana with her parents during her formative years.
She made this disclosure in an interview on the Y Leaderboard Series hosted by Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM. “Going back to London was a cultural shock for me because I had most of my formative years here. I went back to the UK at 19 and I was going back as an adult to navigate the world.”
Lucy asserted that she found it difficult to find her balance in working and focusing on her education in a country she had now become out of touch with. “I found it very challenging but ultimately what matters is focusing on your goals and chasing them,” she stated.
She admitted that her focus and the levels of support she received from friends and family helped her to find her feet upon returning to the UK. “I connected with friends in Ghana and other people who were going through the same phase that I was in. I also had family in the UK who supported me too.”
Lucy motioned that with time, it became easier for her to transition back to life in the UK all because of the social institution of friends and families she had around her.
