Akosua Hanson, Host of the Y Lounge on YFM, is a speaker at this year’s Ake Arts & Book Festival.
She joins a panel of writers, which includes Nigerian Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, the Norwegian-born British journalist, and writer Afua Hirsch and more.
Akosua Hanson will be sharing her expertise in her capacity as a writer and an artistic activist.
Her creative work spans graphic novels, theatre, poetry, healing, short stories, and artistic activism.
She has published articles such as ‘Ebola and the Africa-hating Single Story,’ ‘Defining Development for Africa,’ ‘A Girl’s hopes for Women’s Day,’ ‘Shashii, Ghanaian Twitter and Slut-Shaming’, ‘Could We Be Protecting the Cosby Next Door?’
Her current project is Moongirls, a graphic novel series following the adventures of African LBQ supersheroes.
Now in its 8th year, the Ake Arts & Book Festival will take place virtually from 22 to 25 October 2020.
The festival has brought over 700 artists, writers, poets, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, actors, filmmakers, and thinkers together to dialogue and celebrate creativity on the African continent.
