Ghanaian Highlife and Afrobeat singer, Eugene Kwame Marfo, popularly known as Kuami Eugene, has advised growing artistes to be creative when composing musical lyrics.
According to the rockstar King, music has evolved over time, creating a lot of changes. He noted that, currently, artistes write simple lyrics to make it with relatable with the fans and trendy.
“Music is music once the audience or listeners love and enjoy it,” he said. He convinces artiste out there to look out for the listeners happiness before putting lyrics to paper.
Kuami Eugene also emphasized on the fact that modern music should be simple and easy to come, yet impress your listeners. He makes references to ways back when music was sang in longevity but current trend approve short but creative lyrics and that’s what all artiste must follow.
“You have little to say but then, you have to impress your listeners, consumers and the public and you have little to say because it’s just a maximum of 3 minutes,” he stressed .
“Just like my new song “single” when I performed it first time in Oakland everyone was signing along when it got to the chorus, it’s because it’s a simple hook” he continued.
Speaking to Rev. Erskine and DJ Ganj on #MMRS, the Ghanaian superstar advises artiste out there to hope on the new trend which entails a whole lot of creative but simple music lyrics. “I mean your pen game should be amazing” he emphasized.
