Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of Jambo Spaces, Bernard Sokpe (Meister), has cautioned career men and women against overly working themselves.
According to him, mental and physical health must be prioritized by every single professional.
Sharing his experience, the renowned Ghanaian creative in the early start of his career was constantly working overtime and sleeping very little.
However, a loss he suffered during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic caused him to reassess his life, making major changes to it.
In an interview with Y107.9FM’s Rev Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series, he said, “In the early start of my career I was working overtime and now I make time to sleep and for the family. I have seen losses in my family…and my pops’ was an awakening for me. Covid took him out of the blue and he wasn’t having time for a lot of things even my family. You can be busy but if something happens to you today, life goes on.”
Bernard now makes time for himself, and has taken up biking as a hobby “and when I am tired, I sleep.”
The Y Leaderboard Series is an interactive and mentoring segment on Y107.9FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show which airs every Wednesday from 10:00am. On the show, seasoned leaders in various industries share their live’s journey with the youth, and also guide them on making sound life decisions.
