“It is basically a term I coined to describe a girl who takes your money and breaks your heart,” was the explanation provided by the creative artist. When asked what the inspiration was behind writing the catchy song, Zombie, the Ghanaian-born artist, Big Shade, gave props to the producer of the track. Produced by African great, M.O.G. Beatz, Zombie, is a lyrical story of a man having his heart played with and broken.
Zombie, which was released in early April, is the first off Big Shade’s extended play (EP), titled, Hurt Not Broken. The EP, which is due to drop soon, follows a theme of heartbreak and disappointment in relationships, which is a change from his previous singles, like Money ,Dem Go Hear Am and SAA. “I’m a visionary, so it’s not just about the music. It’s about inspiring people. Empowering them with your words. Hurt Not Broken gives you hope.” Although he may deem himself a visionary, the Zombie singer, also wears many other hats- singer, songwriter, producer, event host and promoter- anything music related, he can do it!
Beyond his many roles, his project, Red Room Rendition, which is a collaboration between his personal baby, Zero Gravity Entertainment, and Grand Eagle Motion, is a platform that allows other up and coming artists to showcase their original music. The project has already seen several artists, from around the globe, get the chance to display their talents. Big Shade, who was dubbed that by his elder brother, has always been considered to be like a tree, looking out for others, and this resonates through his music and projects.
He admits to working tirelessly to cultivate new talent, whilst simultaneously promoting his new EP. He also hints at working on a highly anticipated music video for Zombie. In the meantime, music enthusiasts can download the song on all major streaming apps.
