The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dentsu Ghana, Andrew Ackah has opined that old friends play a significant role in one’s success, hence, such friends should be kept as close as possible.
In an interview with Akosua Hanson on the Y Leaderboard Series, he explained that old friends usually know you better than the new friends you make later in life and they can advise you on which path to take and which path to avoid.
“There are various structures of friends but I mean the ones that you grow up with and build that relationship with; you are not going to grow with every one of them but those you still have around know you. They understand you. They know where you came from and you are able to connect a lot more with them. Even though you meet new friends, you need to keep the old ones because they are your fact-checks.
If new friends make you feel some type of way, they are the ones who will check you and let you know, ‘I know you and I know where you are coming from, so stay on the path’. It is great to keep them at the base because it is important to help you grow”.
Sharing his own experience of how old friends have been pivotal in his success, he said: “The friends I made are some of the connections I still have today. Some of the friends I made at St. Augustine’s college and my first degree at KNUST are still some of my fundamental friendships”.
