The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vodafone Ghana, Patricia Obo – Nai has indicated that one of the greatest support systems a career woman can rely on is the support from family.
According to her, she has been able to do her work and thrive in her industry all because of the support she has received from her family, husband and in-laws.
Speaking on the Y Leaderboard Series with Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show, the youngest female CEO in the telecommunications industry noted that, “My work has not been stressful for me because of the external support I received from my family. External support really helps.”
Citing many instances where her mother-in-law had supported her she shared, “I used to stay in Tema and would have to drive to Tigo in Accra for work and take the kids to school. But my mother-in-law was there to support me. She would pick up the kids from school, bath them and feed them. And I will then pick them up after work.”
She added that her mother-in-law always helped her to take care of her children when she had to travel. With her either coming over to their home or having the kids over until the time of her return. “Some people call their mothers-in-law witches but that is not it. They are kind people and mine has helped me a lot.”
Patricia Obo-Nai advised career women to prepare their minds for whatever they set before themselves and balance their work life with their family life. She acknowledged that this can only be possible if they accept support from their family.
She expressed her appreciation to her family for their support in her journey as a career woman.
