American-born Nigerian singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as ‘Davido’ has described how it looked so unreal for him to have a song with American- Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj.
According to Davido, it was so surreal to him, after Nicki Minaj assented to his request for them to record their latest jam, ‘Holy Ground’.
He made this revelation in an interview with Kojo Manuel, host of Y 107.9 FM’s ‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’.
“I had already done the record and as I was leaving the club one day, I was like Nicki Minaj will be great and I need her on the album.”
The musician motioned he went to Instagram only to realize that Nicki Minaj was already following him. “After realizing she was already following me, I sent her a direct message and asked her to hop on the song with me. She just asked me to send the song to her”.
“It was so surreal to me”, Davido exclaimed.
He indicated that not long after sending the song to her, Nicki Minaj worked on it and quickly reverted even though she had just given birth to her first child. “I have not even met her yet but she worked on this with me”, says Davido.
The Nigerian hit maker on his part admitted that no great efforts were out in place to get all these great acts onto his latest album, ‘A Better Time’. “It was honestly put together by just natural vibes. We didn’t really plan it nor asked people to help us”.
On the 13th of October, 2020, Davido officially released his much anticipated “A Better Time” album which has 17 amazing tracks with collaborations with Chris Brown, Lil Baby, Mugeez, Nas, South African Rapper, Sho Madjozi and a host of other great talents.
