COVID-19 : AMA set to disinfect markets today

A Happy FM Greater Accra Regional Correspondent, Ebenezer Owurani, in an interview on the Happy Morning Show has disclosed that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly is preparing this morning to disinfect markets in the region.
According to him, AMA just this morning is holding brief meetings with people who will be involved in the spraying of the markets. Among them are soldiers, AMA authorities and men, and women who are tasked to spray the markets.
He further revealed that “those who were tasked to spray the markets were given protective clothing whilst the soldiers were in their usual attire. Press personnel were also provided with nose masks and hand sanitizers as they are to cover the event”.
Officials of AMA avoided speaking to Happy FM as they wait on the Mayor to address the media directly.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly informed the general public that there will be a massive disinfection exercise across all public market centers within its jurisdiction following the President’s directive on measures to contain and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
The President in his recent statement on the updates and measures to be followed in relation to COVID-19 directed that the Ministry of Local Government should work with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to ensure that markets across the country observe enhanced hygienic practices.
