Ghanaian Advertising guru and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dentsu Ghana, Andrew Ackah has shared insights into how schooling at St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO) influenced him greatly.
Andrew, a good nurtured, prim and proper child went to AUGUSCO and met with different people with extreme behaviors from whom he really understood human behavior. These lessons in human behavior are what has made him the highly acclaimed marketing and advertising guru he is.
According to him, the motto of his Alma matter, Omnia Vincit Labor (Perseverance conquers All) has pushed him beyond all odds and he will forever be grateful for the education (within and without the classroom) he received.
“The highlight for my life was going to AUGUSCO where I met with different people with different characters and extreme behaviors. It was then I realized how important it is to understand the path I wanted to set for myself whilst understanding the opinions of everyone else. I will never forget that”.
To him, the experience was an eye-opener as he was put at the crossroads of choosing where and what he wanted to be in the future. “It was my first time being in a boarding school and knowing where I was coming from, I focused on my books”.
Andrew furthered that as a student at AUGUSCO, he built great friendships which have supported him right until now. “Some of the friends I made at St. Augustine’s and Tech are some of my foundations now. They’re are my fact-checkers and are always there to make sure I don’t sway from my core”.
St. Augustine’s College is an all-male academic institution in Cape Coast, Ghana. The school started at Amissano, a village near Elmina, in 1930. The Roman Catholic institution was established to serve as a training college and seminary and was named after St. Augustine of Hippo (354 – 430 AD).
