Ghanaian musical duo, Dopenation, have revealed that a lot deliberations go into their features with other artistes.
According to the group, they carefully consider how an artiste is linked to the story of the song before bringing them on a song.
Speaking to Kojo Manuel on the ‘Dryve of Your Life’, they expressed: “music is like a journey to us; it is not just like putting songs together and releasing them. We only get to feature someone when a person shares a part of the story. For example, the song ‘Today’ was ready but the concept behind this was to feature our media gurus who are responsible for releasing our songs and playing it”.
Furthering on how other collaborations with other artistes came about, they explained: “For Olamide we were freestyling on our first song ‘Eeish’ and Olamide was like ‘let’s do something’ and we had ‘Naami’. Confam with Medikal because we were cool with Medikal and Medikal is the ‘confam’ guy. Every song has a story behind it. For ‘Ibi Tins’, the boys like Mole and Twitch just came to the house and we were just having fun, sipping one or two and then ‘Ibi Tins’ happened”.
Dopenation is out with a new single dubbed ‘Today’. The musical duo says the song is to appreciate all media persons who promoted their songs at a time when COVID-19 had hit the world.
