Ghana’s leading media power house, eTV Ghana has partnered with FemInStyle Africa, a gender driven institute to organize an event on March 11, to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD).
The event which is under the theme,“African Women Breaking the Bias” curators FemInStyle Africa say will be a hybrid event presented both online and in-person.
FemInStyle Africa has released the list of panelists for the in person session which will take place at Alliance Française and online.
The speakers culled from various fields include, the prominent Joyce Bawah-Mogtari, former Deputy Minister for Transport, Deborah Freeman, founder and General Secretary for the Informal Workers Union, Rita Yaa Ntoso Ofoe, Programmes Officer for Star Ghana Foundation, Professor Akosua K. Darkwah, a lecturer and Convener of NETRIGHT among others will share their experiences and knowledge about how women can continue to shatter the proverbial glass ceiling.
FemInStyle Africa is a women-led digital magazine, committed to telling the stories of African women by African women. It focuses on politics, gender, finance, health, profiles and fashion, lifestyle, and travel with women as the central focus.
The founder of FemInStyle, Henrietta Bonney-Mercer encourages women to attend this year’s International Women’s Day event as it promises to be fun and educative.
“Join us for our hybrid (online and in-person) event on the 11th of March 2022 to commemorate International Women’s Day 2022 and celebrate African women. We will have thought-provoking panels, breakout sessions and other fun activities like henna hand painting, whine and wine, exhibitions, music and dance and more,” she said.
Cosby Bikpe, Programmes Manager for eTV Ghana also reiterated the importance of the event as a way of honoring the impacts of women in society.
“International Women’s Day” is a special day set aside to celebrate women in our society for their achievements and ultimate relevance to society, as well as strategise and push for more inclusive policies and spaces for women. This year, FemInStyle Africa will not only celebrate women, but encourage us all to fight for gender equality today for a more sustainable tomorrow; and as a media brand we want to share in the light of such initiative for the development of women in Ghana,” he said.
