Edem to premiere 'Mighty Jesus' off The African Answer album on Friday

Edem’s forth studio album The African Answer is expected to be released by the first quarter of next year. The VRMG boss has provided some background on the title, which was announced few weeks back, in an anticipation for his December 8 premiere of “Mighty Jesus” worldwide.
“The direction of the album is to take a risk.” Edem disclosed. “To try and challenge myself and to walk the global corridors with the music. When I say global corridors I mean mainstream American Hip Hop market. I want to go there and give them an idea of what an African artist sounds like when it comes to rap, entertainment and more.”
The title of the album is The African Answer was coined by the Grammy nominated producer, Coptic. “We brought a few names up and he also brought that up and we thought about it carefully and considered that because it speaks to what I’m trying to do and achieve with this body of work.
“My debut album was the “Volta Regime” where a new artist was emerging from the corner of the country to the national front and now I’ trying to move from the national front to the global level.

“We will showcase why the album is The African Answer artistically, creatively and direction wise considering all the work we are putting into it sonically and visually.
The first single off The African Answer “Mighty Jesus” features verses from EL and Jayso and premieres on December 8 together with its visuals worldwide.
“No matter how you look at it, some of the ways we get through life is divine. Some of the ways we get to our destinations is not by our power. When we were working on the album and we came by that song we thought it will be a good way to set the tone for the album where we will acknowledge a greater power than us; as human beings.
“Looking at the landscape, there is a lot of shift from Hip Hop to dance friendly songs and Hip Hop is one of the pillars of the Edem brand. From Book and Rhymes, I haven’t released a full body of work and so I want to remind people of what they know me for.
Talking about the process involved Edem detailed walking pass Madison Square Garden most often on his way to Coptic’s studio to lay vocals.

“I’m doing this with Brooklyn Bridge who closed a deal with eOne – the biggest independent distribution company in the US and we spoke about terms and started work immediately.
“The interesting thing about Coptic’s studio is that you pass right by Madison Square Garden where Jay Z had some of his iconic performances. Anytime I passed by it, I feel this dream is so close. Walking pass the venue gives you hope that you are near to the bigger picture you were aiming for because at one point I was representing my people, then I represented my country but at this point I’m representing the continent.
