Ghanaian rapper and lyricist, Zed Ay Kay, has urged fellow industry players in the Ghanaian music industry to continue making music that upholds the captivating melodies of African music amid evident music evolution.
In an interview on Y107.9FM’s Ryse N’ Shyne with host Brown Berry, the rap star revealed that the appreciation of music has changed due to the advent of technology and the opportunity to listen to songs tailored according to user preference. “Back in the day, while our parents went about their normal duties, they could play classics from the old days that you just got a liking to; there was nothing else to listen to. But now, people have their playlists on streaming apps and so on. It’s no longer the same.”
He noted that music is dynamic, hence bound to change over time. However, he highlighted that certain music genres remain timeless, embodying the rich heritage of Africa.
Zed Ay Kay after breaking away from the duo-singing group, Replay, is making remarkable progress in the music industry. As a solo artist, he has accrued collaborations with some of Ghana’s finest like Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Felix Owusu.
