French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Anne Sophie Avé has hailed her parents for giving her the upbringing they did as it has shaped her into who she is now.
Admitting her childhood was demanding, she stated, “My childhood was demanding and if my parents are listening I don’t hold it against them at all. They were very right to be very demanding and that has shaped me to who I am.”
Having being raised in France and Belgium, young Anne did not have the luxury of fun as her parents expected her to hit her books and prioritize her academics above all else. Even when engaged in what she considered as fun, her parents urged her to excel in that. “Fun was not really on the menu for me,” she said.
As an industrious young girl, Anne almost all the time ended up as class prefect of her class and took her role seriously, advocating for her colleagues.
In an interview with Y107.9FM’s Rev Erskine on the Yleaderboard Series hosted on the Myd Morning Radio Show, the French Ambassador revealed, “I took my roles very seriously and sometimes the head teacher called when they had to make a decision about a particular student. On those occasions the head teacher will ask me not to defend them but I will plead their cases saying although they may not have good grades give them a second chance.”
This earned her the nick name ‘Social Lawyer’ and her parents did not like that as they felt she was suing valuable time for learning for something else. “They wanted me to use my time to focus on school work.”
Although she has a social life, , Her Excellency Anne Sophie Avé who loved to read and do puzzles after finishing her homework still does that at her ‘me time’. “I love the lonely type of activities which helped me to refocus and put myself together. I may come across as an extrovert and like to socialize but I need my me time.”
