It appears Serie A giants AC Milan will announce the departure of manager Gennaro Gattuso on Tuesday after the 41-year-old all but confirmed his departure from the club.
Gattuso, who was appointed in November 2017, failed to secure Champions League football for the sixth consecutive season in what was seen as a disappointing campaign.
“Deciding to leave Milan’s bench is not easy but it’s a decision I had to make,” he said.
“There was not a precise moment in which I decided, it was the sum of these 18 months as coach of a team that for me will never be like the others. Months that I lived with great passion, unforgettable months.
Gattuso’s time in Milan has been eventful, to say the least.
Back in August last year, footage emerged of the manager slapping 17-year-old defender Gabriele Bellodi around the head after he proudly held a Barcelona shirt in the air.
The incident happened following Milan’s 1-0 victory over the Catalan giants.
Valente Silva scored in injury time winner in the International Champions Cup tournament and after the full-time whistle, Bellodi clearly wanted to remember the result by picking up a Barca shirt.
Gattuso, on the other hand, wasn’t exactly delighted by the youngsters actions, using the classic Italian hand gesture to showcase his feelings.
