Ghanaian heavyweight rapper and lyricist, Godfred Dadzie, identified as GoddyWan in music circles has said that the state of Ghana’s creative arts industry cannot help industry players
In an interview with Brown Berry host of Y107.9FM’s RyseNShyne , GoddyWan explained that creative arts is a sector that is regarded by every developed country
The hip hop rapper added that the state of Ghana’s creative arts industry is defined by a governing system that stymies creativity. “The system squeezes our creativity; the system does not allow us to be creative.”
The ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ crooner while assessing the contrast between Africa and most thriving countries said, “When you compare the developed countries to the third world countries down here, the only thing that makes them stand out is the way they utilize their creative arts industry. I think that every great thing is built by someone’s idea-someone’s creative picture. But here we are living in a system that does not use even 10% of the creative arts industry.”
He also fingered the country’s education system as a major propeller of this idea which underestimates the importance of creatives and creative arts to a nation’s development. “The illiteracy is really high in these parts of the world. So when you even present something creative that can make one earn a living, it is put aside.” he explained.
