Ghanaian rapper, Bayku, has shared details of the inspiration behind his album ‘Warrior King’ which is set to be released in October 2022.
According to him, he chose the name ‘Warrior King’ for the album as it is the meaning of Ghana.
He indicated the album is to describe his musical progress in Ghana, as he has lived outside the country most of the time.
In an interview with Kojo Manuel on Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe, Bayku said, “We’re warriors and ‘Warrior King’ means Ghana, but the world doesn’t know that, so now they’ll know. A lot of people don’t know what Ghana means and those who know tend to forget and we need to be reminded constantly. Even I had to be reminded and I felt that it was special.”
Bayku believes that for a small country like Ghana, the impact it has on the world is very important “and we’re very special people too, hence the world needs to know about us.”
He disclosed the album has 9 songs and features artistes he refers to as family.
“My family’s on there. Manifest, Adina, Kidi, Reggie Rockstone, Aka Blay, Yaa Pono and many others are on there. Everyone featured means a lot to me. They’re all my family and they all have something to say,” he said.
Bayku stated that, all they did on the album was what they always spoke about when they were young.
“We just want to push the limits and make sure we give Ghanaians what they deserve,” he added.
