Head of Communication for the Jospong Group of Companies, Sophia Kudjordji has expressed that Ghanaian Journalists should make it a point to learn some more.
Comparing Journalists of then to that of today, she made it known that a lot of things have changed and Journalists of today still have some work to do.
Per her observation, most of the Journalists seem quite comfortable and are happy in their space which is not pushing them to do what is expected of them.
She told Rev Erskine on Y 107.9 FM’s Y Leaderboard Series, “They feel so invincible to the extent that people go on air and unfortunately use language that in my house you’ll be whipped for using. People can look adults in the face in the name of freedom of speech and just speak anyhow”.
She stated that as Ghanaians, we belong to a culture which teaches us to respect adults but sadly some journalists of today are refusing to inculcate this in their practice.
“The culture we belong to says I respect my adults. I respect people not because they are adults alone but because they are human beings and they should be respected” she said.
She revealed that sometimes she gets heartbroken whenever she listens to the news because all she sees is sheer ignorance.
“Some are doing excellently, some are doing great jobs but most of them are not ready to learn”.
She believes that if they give themselves the platform to learn some more, they will be able to do more and make more impact than they are doing already.
