Ghanaians have been triggered by the recent video release from American rapper, Meek Mill capturing the Jubilee House, the Office of the Presidency.
Meek Mill visited Ghana for the first time in December as he was billed to perform at Afronation. The Hip-Hop star already described the country as his second home after a week-long experience here. From quadbike riding sessions, the controversy of his missing phone while performing, having had to fight off hoodlums to get on stage and his visit to the Office of the Presidency at the Jubilee House.
Having returned to the State, Meek Mill in later hours on Sunday, January 8, dropped a video snippet to announce his upcoming release.
However, the video captures some sections of the Jubilee House which are deemed borders and high-security zones. He was pictured with his team on the frontage of the Jubilee House, to the main corridor and conference hall. He was also seen positioned at the Presidential lectern rapping – intriguingly using explicit lyrics.

The majority of the Ghanaian populace has taken to social media to express their displeasure as they describe Meek Mill’s actions as disrespectful to the country’s highest authority. Others have also called out executives at the Jubilee House for allowing the Americans “a high security installation” at the Jubilee House.
Among notable people who put out their disapproval included Ghana’s lawmaker and MP for the North Tongu constituency, Hon. Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa who tweeted; “All those responsible for this despicable desecration of the Jubilee House by Meek Mill must be fired immediately.”
He continued, “How do those explicit lyrics from the president’s lectern project Ghana positively? Is Ghana’s seat of government no longer a high security installation?”
“Director of Diaspora Affairs & Minister of Interior, y’all really get questions answer for that Meek Mill video oooo.. how’s a drone being flown over the Jubilee house? As innnnnn???? You can’t even shoot a photo at the Independence Square & not get jumped at by ‘security’ Herh,” @OleleSalvador tweeted

Shooting a music video in the Presidents office is crazy…very shocking! Meek Mill got it wrong there. As to whether he ask for permission or not is another discussion. pic.twitter.com/SCMfLnVGr9

Most Ghanaian artists will not be given so much access to Jubilee House as Meek Mill had and there’s nothing wrong with that. Rwanda signed a £10M/year deal with PSG to promote their country. Should they have given the same deal to a local club?

Creatives would embark on personal projects to shoot photos/videos at some of our national landmarks and they’re being harassed to the extent of being brutalized by some members of our security agencies stationed there.
There’s a WHOLE MUSIC VIDEO SHOT AT THE JUBILEE HOUSE!

Surprisingly, just a few section of the populace have justified Meek Mill’s action as they believe there was no wrongdoing.
Those talking about Meek Mill video and not thinking on the other side of the story are lost souls.
There’s a lot behind the scenes. Hear from the president before you make any shït talk, most importantly, keep quiet and fix your life.

After the heavy backlashes from Ghanaians, the American artiste has subsequently deleted the video posted earlier.
