Rising Ghanaian musician and producer, Dani Draco, has opened up about one of the challenges he faces in music and one thing that he would like to see changed in the Ghanaian music industry.
In an interview with Dorothy Cornelius on the Weekend Rush on YFM, Dani Draco disclosed that his biggest challenge in music is how people are not open-minded to some types of music that they put out and the content of the music.
According to him, when musicians sing about life or hardships and where they want to get to, it is not just a lifestyle but basically their hearty thoughts put into music.
“Within the system, my challenge now is the fact that a lot of people need to be open minded about the art form that we’re doing because we’re putting our pain and the hardships that we go through in life into these songs.
Some of them think it’s just a lifestyle and that’s also cool but whatever we go through, we put it in there so that the kids can also have a blueprint to follow. Now there’s no blueprint. Every kid wants to be a ghetto kid. We come from that living and we don’t want to be poor that’s why we talk about progress, living good and stuff like that
Asked if he would change anything in the industry if he had the chance, Dani replied in the affirmative, saying that he would make sure that there was more funding for the youth so that all these hidden talents can be realized.
“There are a lot of geniuses in this country and there’s a lot of dead dreams in the graveyard so the kids need to be able to dream. They don’t even dream anymore”, he said.
Dani Draco sees himself growing bigger than music in ten years time. His dream is to have multiple businesses aside music and possibly own a school of art. He just released a four track EP titled Higher Life and it is currently out for streaming on all digital platforms.
