Nigerian singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold has blessed fans with Afro Pop Vol 1, his third studio album, which serves as a follow up to his 2018 album, Vol 30.
The 10-track album sees him fuse threads of Afro Pop with electronic chops putting out a unique sound, different from his usual musical style.
While many have tagged his new project as a rebrand, the “Orente” hitmaker debunked the notion, describing the album as “Freedom.”
He explained that he had prepared fans for this moment in his music video for his 2018 hit Ire.
Speaking to Akosua Hanson on the Alternative Lounge Live, Adekunle Gold said: “I’m thankful that I eased people into it.” He added, “I hinted it a while ago in my video Ire where I did King of Afro Pop.”
Afro-Pop Vol 1 features musicians including Trinidadian singer Nailah Blackman, and Nigerian musicians Patoranking, Olayinka Ehi and Tekno.
