Ghanaian rapper and socialite Sarkodie has disclosed how important the role of his band is in his performances are and has indicated that he cannot give a great show without his full band.
The 37-year-old rapper in an interview on Y107.9FM’s “Dryve of Your Lyfe” with host Kojo Manuel, described performing without his full band as his biggest challenge because he is not able to give fans the experience he intends to give without them.
“What has been my biggest challenge is now, if I’m being called to any stage and I don’t have my full band with me to give you the Rapperholic experience or the Global citizen experience, that energy; that is how I want the show to go.” He further explained that getting his full band set for a show is expensive hence making it seem as though he may be picky about the shows he performs at. “That is not easy, that comes with a lot of cost so that’s why I’m kind of picky with the shows until I can really deliver how I want to deliver the act,” he explained.
According to Sark, he mentioned that a performance without his band can be done. However, would not be motivating, in a sense that, it will not bring about the expected move that he intends to deliver with. “If it’s just me coming to play the music and rap and take money I would do it but it’s not motivating to move,” he posited.
Sarkodie later indicated in the interview that with regards to his upcoming shows, he has informed promoters of events to make accommodation for his full band in order to bring the level of performance he desires to deliver a great performance. “This time I told promoters and then they agreed that they are going to accommodate that so I can bring that level of performance to these places,” he added.
