It is not uncommon to see parents use their various resources and connections to help their kids get to the peak of their careers and life quicker, but some also expect their kids to go through life on their own.
One of such parents who wants their kids to strive for success on their own is the Presidential Candidate for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.
He made this known in an interview on Y 107.9 FM’s Myd Morning Radio show with host, Rev Erskine.
“I am a good family man with a twenty-five (25) year old son and a twenty-three (23) year old daughter who are now at the stage where they’re looking to build their future. They may want me to open gates for them with my connections but I won’t do that,” he said.
He noted as a parent he has gone through all the processes with his kids right from childhood to them becoming young adults and has ever since let them chart their own course. “I let them do things on their own and watch them be successful at it.”
Speaking on parenthood, the politician who has always shared in the lives of his kids noted that parenting is one thing that never ends no matter how old your kids are. “Once a parent always a parent. My mother always calls her four (4) kids around the world to give us advice regularly.”
He furthered that one of the most difficult times of being a parent was when he was hospitalized for over a year after suffering a severe car accident that cost him his legs
