Veteran musician and aspiring Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President, Bessa Simons, has revealed that he will introduce an app for transparency if he wins the MUSIGA presidential race.
Bessa, who served as Obour’s deputy for the past eight years, made these revelations on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive Show’ with DJ Advicer.
‘‘I want more musicians to succeed. I’m a person that believes transparency is very important so I need to make things transparent so that all the people that have been talking wouldn’t talk again. If you go on your computer or phone and there’s anything bordering you about MUSIGA, you press a bottom and your question will be answered,” he said.
‘‘Because I know the good things we have done and I also know what we have to do to add up. I mean personally if you watch me, I call myself ‘ father of all’. I’m the only musician who flows with both the young and aged musicians. I am one of the musicians whose background is solid because I’ve studied music at school. I’ve done traditional cultural music and Gospel song instrumentation.
I’ve done all kind of genres; highlife, hiplife, rap and everything. So I’m coming to look after all these people. Some musicians are voiceless, they are trying to do something and they have been ignored. These are the people I’m coming for,’’ he further indicated.
Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has set June 28, 2019 as the date for its national elections. This year, members who are eligible to vote can do some at their regional centers.
The national elections will elect a new president and national executives for the union after the term of the current executives under the leadership of Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour), which ends in May 2019.
