Professor Clement Appah, the Head of Linguistics at Ghana’s premium university, the University of Ghana has revealed that growing up he aspired to be Ghana’s Agricultural Minister.

Clement Appah indicated that his aspirations were ignited by the admiration for the exuberant Ibrahim Adam, a former Agric Minister under the late President Rawlings’ regime.

The Ghanaian linguistic master shared this intriguing revelation about his early childhood in an exclusive interview on Y 107.9 FM’s Y Leaderboard Series with host, Rev Erskine.

Reflecting on his educational journey, Prof. Clement Appah described himself as an all-round student who excelled in various subjects without much struggle. However, he always had a clear vision of his future aspirations. “Growing up, what I wanted to be was a matter of fact, what appealed to me at the time.”

During his time in Senior High School, Prof. Appah chose to study agriculture with a well-defined plan in mind. He aimed to delve into politics and ultimately become the Minister of Agriculture. His motivation for pursuing this path stemmed from his admiration for Ibrahim Adams. He stressed that the former minister’s persona, eloquence, and every aspect of his being as a stateman served as a profound inspiration for the young student.

The professor’s ambitions didn’t end there. He also expressed a desire to join the armed forces, influenced by the iconic figure of former President Rawlings. “In those days, he was the idol,” Prof. Appah recalled. His initial plan involved entering the military, transitioning into politics, and eventually assuming the role of the Minister of Agriculture.

These formative experiences and the influential figures who left a lasting impact on Prof. Clement Appah’s aspirations have shaped his path and instilled a deep commitment to his field of study. As the Head of the Department of Linguistics, he continues to contribute to academia and inspire future generations of students at the University of Ghana.

With his dedication and the driving force of his early inspirations, Prof. Appah’s journey stands as a testament to the profound impact individuals can have on shaping the dreams and ambitions of others.
