Legendary Ghanaian rapper, Reggie Rockstone believes Ghanaian music has changed and improved tremendously over the years.
Born Reginald Yaw Asante Osei, The “Godfather of Hiplife”, as Reggie is described in many circles, told Mercy Bee, producer of Ayekoo after drive on Happy 98.9 FM said:
”When we talk about improvement, there has been a lot of improvement in Ghanaian music but with all these improvements we have the ups and downs. Today we have modern technologies unlike in our days where we used to suffer with cassettes. Today even when you push your song on facebook it flies. Time changes so I can’t compare. But the fundamental objective of music remains the same.
“We play music to be happy so what we used to do and what we do now is the same. It’s just the technology that has helped so I’m happy it has changed. If it hadn’t changed like it would have disturbed me.”
According to Reggie Rockstone, the new artistes are doing very well in the industry and he is proud of them.
”We have new talents that I see are coming up everyday like Kuami Eugene, Kidi, Vision, Vybz official and lot more and I am very proud of them so we should play more of our own.”
