Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hollard Ghana, Patience Akyianu, has advised that intelligence, when it is not backed by perseverance gets one nowhere.
Asked by host, Rev. Erskine on the Y-Leaderboard Series what values or principles that she wants her children to grow with, she mentioned that as important as it is to have faith, there are also values like perseverance and determination that go a long way to help one succeed in life.
According to her, “My husband and I use every opportunity to drive home the point that you can be very intelligent but without perseverance, you’ll get nowhere. It’s not about those who have higher IQs, it’s about those who persevere.
Like the story of Thomas Edison, the light bulb inventor who tried several times, If he had given up, we would have all been in darkness. Perseverance will serve you well in life and that comes with being determined”.
She also noted that diligence or hard work is also one value to uphold strongly in life because diligence gets one noticed.
Patience further mentioned consistency. She said, “You can do one big thing today and the inconsistency can keep you going round and round in circles so keep it consistent.
We also try to instill in our kids unity. We teach them to be one as a family and we teach them to be honest”.
