The co-founder of UT bank, Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng has disclosed that he didn’t want to read business at the University but rather science.
He mentioned that it was a bit of a disappointment to him when he was not allowed to read science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) because of his subjects combination in Senior High School.
Speaking on Y107.9FM’s ‘Leaderboard’ series hosted by Akosua Hanson, he intimated, “I was disappointed for not getting admission at Tech as a science student because I didn’t study chemistry. I was offered business administration because I did economics and mathematics so, by default, I changed from reading science to business administration.”
Detailing the reason why he studied economics as a science student in SHS instead of chemistry, he replied that, he realized that economics and chemistry were similar and therefore swapped economics with chemistry making him the first science student at St.Peters to read physics, economics and mathematics.
He further stated that he was not born a business-minded person as people claimed he is but circumstances and events led him into the business circle.
Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng is the President of UT Holdings and a retired military officer (Captain) and investment consultant. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK) and a member of Chartered Accountants (CA-GH).
