American born songstress of Jamaican descent, Queen Iminah says her coming to Ghana was not by chance.
Describing herself as “originally from Africa via the United States of America,” Queen Iminah noted that her parents raised her siblings and herself with the consciousness that “even though we were born in America, we are African and it was really left to us to reconnect with the African continent.”
The musician who tells everyone she is a born again Ghanaian sharing how she found herself in the motherland told Y107.9FM’s Kula on the Wake N Bake Show that, “really and truly, the ancestors brought me to Ghana.”
According to her, visiting Ghana and her African heritage was a lifelong quest and immediately she found music, she came to Africa, visited Ghana and “I knew I was in love with Ghana. The love stemmed from the fact that Ghana is similar to Jamaica where I trace my roots to and I felt at home.
Queen Iminah who visited Ghana in 2019 during the Year of Return celebration has visited the country on five (5) occasions and promises to keep doing so more often.
