American rapper and songwriter, Shawn Corey Carter popularly known as Jay-Z has expressed his disappointment in the Recording Academy regarding its failure to properly acknowledge industry players.
The Recording Academy, is an elite group of industry professionals who annually assess the performance of musicians worldwide, nominate and award them for outstanding work done during the year.
Jay-Z emphasized the academy’s failure to give appropriate recognition to certain industry players, especially his wife Beyoncé. He said, “We love y’all, we want you to get it right. At least get it close to right. I don’t want to embarrass her, but this young lady (Beyoncé) has more Grammys than everyone but has never won ‘Album of The Year’. So even if you use your metrics which does not work, think about that the most Grammys, never won album of the year.”
Jay-Z at the 66th Grammy Awards Ceremony expressed his dissatisfaction during his acceptance speech as winner of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.
