President of the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design, Madam Joyce Ababio, has shared a tip with women who are juggling their career with raising children as she reveals her personal experience of balancing the two.
Speaking in an interview with Rev.Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series, she described herself as one who was family-oriented and as such, her work does not interfere with her family time.
Even with her busy schedule, Joyce Ababio makes time for her family and thus advises mothers to do the same.
“Customers do not call me on my personal line. Everything business is done at work so that it doesn’t come home. So the weekend is spent with my children. I advise mothers to find a structure in their lives that they will use to be able to run their businesses as well as manage the children in the house”.
While she shares this tip, she still encourages that women plan their lives ahead before making decisions about childbirth.
“I got married at twenty-three and had my first daughter at twenty-six. I usually think that people should plan their lives. If for instance, in the school, somebody came and they were already pregnant, I would ask them to take time to think through things because, in this work we do, people tend to look at it as very easy but it is not. It is very stressful. So you need to plan ahead and make certain decisions; whether the children will come before or not”, she added.
