An Accra Magistrate court judge, Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah has threatened to grant bail to suspects who have spent three years or more without trial if the attorney general does not prosecute their cases.
He is not happy with the snail pace at which the attorney general’s department prosecutes cases.
Reports indicate that His Worship Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah berated the lukewarm attitude of the lawyers at the Attorney General’s office in relation to trials.
The judge made the comment after prosecutor Francisca Tutu Mensah told the court that the docket for Lucas Agboyie was missing and they are preparing another one.
Lucas a mason is standing trial for strangling a 7 year old girl to death and having sex with her. The case has been adjourned to Oct 17. He has been charged for murder and defilement.
