Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Mr. Ken Ashigbey has given YFM a pat on the back for birthing an initiative as great and important as the Y Leaderboard Series.
Sharing his knowledge with YFM’s vast audience on the show, he said to the host, Rev. Erskine that, “This Leaderboard Series is a massive thing that we need to do. Unfortunately for us in Ghana, we don’t have a lot of mentors that our youth can look up to especially since the Coups and all of that really changed a lot but now, things are beginning to change so programming like this and especially on the ‘Leader for the youth’ segment, being able to do this and getting big people in Ghana to be able to speak to the youth is a great thing”, he said.
The CEO noted that when we do this, apart from the other people in the Western and Eastern world that are seen as mentors, people will now recognize people from Ghana and say that these people are also fit to be mentors as they have also thrived through a lot to achieve their great feats.
Ken Ashigbey observed that the older generations did not really help the current generation, however, neither is our generation making any change, thus, to break this chain, we need to ensure that the younger generations coming after us will get better opportunities from us so they can live right and better. “They learn from our mistakes and they look at what we have done right so hopefully, they will do better than we have done”.
He further concluded that journalists who have their voices behind the microphone should not take it for granted as it is a weapon which can either cause harm or be used to fight for the greater good.
