CONTEMPORARY MUSIC maestro King Ayisoba and pidgin Music, will on Saturday February 3rd 2018, mount the stage at Alliance Française Accra with thrilling performances for the 4th edition of the Batakari Night concert. Born and raised in Bongo Soe, in Upper East Region of Ghana, King Ayisoba
Learned to play the kologo (a traditional two stringed guitar) from a young age. He came to Accra to pursue his music career to great success. His sound is unique: a throaty passionate voice belts out words of wisdom while he plucks his kologo to a skank beat, and a very alternative character who’s shows are always fantastic and memorable.
The Batakari Night Concert is aimed at promoting the Northen Ghanian smock, also known as ‘Fugu’. The concert will also feature an exhibition and sale of Batakari and other traditional items from northen Ghana. King Ayisoba’s style of music is melodic and percussive, it is one that is exclusive to him. He has displayed diversity and innovation by using traditional instruments together with hiplife; a style that emerged in Ghana in the mid-90s and contains hip-hop and dancehall elements beats. His lyrics are very personal, sometimes funny, often urgent and always imaginative.
Known for one of his popular songs, ‘I Want To See You My Father‘; King Ayisoba has disclosed that, some selected renowned Ghanian and International artistes have been invited to perform at the event, they include Wanlov the Kubolor, Wiyaala, Atongo Zimba, Kwaw Kese among others.
King Ayisoba promises to make this year’s edition of the event better and exiting.
